Hey,
I'm Rachel.
I'm the one behind the lens! If you'd like to get to know me and my story, keep reading!
I grew up in a very small town in the very Southwest corner of Wisconsin. My mom was a teacher and my dad worked full time at a feed mill while farming on the side and eventually went full time farming. My childhood and high school years were what I'd consider all American. I grew up playing every sport my school offered - Volleyball, Basketball, Softball and Track & Field. After high school, I went on to college and got a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
It wasn't always a
clear path
After college, I worked in Madison, WI for John Deere Financial. I then worked in Madison for the Department of Veteran's Affairs Hospital in their financial services. I realized very early on that a cubicle was the last place I wanted to be. I moved back home after working in Madison for a few years and began to help out on my family's farm. I started my own black Angus beef cattle herd alongside my family's herd. In 2010, I had my daughter, Ali. In 2014, I had my son Jace. In 2023, we welcomed our final addition, a daughter Sloane. I currently reside in SW Wisconsin with my kids and my husband Nathan. We raise registered black Angus beef cattle, produce corn, soybeans & alfalfa, and chase our kids around to all their events.
From a Hobby to a Passion
The year 2021 completely changed my life plans and quite honestly turned everything I knew upside down. In July of 2021, my older brother and my only sibling, John, passed away due to complications of injuries he sustained in an ATV accident on the farm. I immediately threw all my attention and effort into helping my parents through the loss and continuing their farming operation without him. He was a co-owner and losing him devastated the farm. It was after his death that I spent the time trying to find my purpose. In that time, I decide to I was going to learn as much as I could about Photography and go from a hobby to a passion. I attended workshops and took classes and here we are today!
Losing my brother taught me the importance of capturing moments and memories to have for the rest of your lifetime. Without those, you're left with only your mind's version.
